PREP before - CARE after

Preparing for your tan and caring for it after is crucial to achieving your desired glow.

Please take the time to read through the following important points.

The Day Of

- If you feel sick in any way, STAY HOME.

CHILDREN are not allowed in the spray room, no exceptions.

If you absolutely need to bring your child, they must be old enough to wait alone in the waiting area during your session. Please schedule your appointment accordingly.

Immediate Aftercare

Depending on your session choice determines when you will rinse off. We'll chat about this at your appointment to ensure you don't rinse too soon or to long after your session. As you're waiting to rinse, wear loose fitting clothing; a bra is not advised
Avoid any activity that will result in sweating or getting wet: no gym, no swimming, no beauty/spa treatments, no washing hands, not even fur-kid licks!

When you rinse, only use water. You will see the cosmetic bronzer rinse off, THIS IS NORMAL. Your tan will continue to develop several hours after this rinse, so skip the skin care products until your next shower.

Extended Aftercare

About 12 hours after your first rinse, you may take a REGULAR shower. Aftercare products are necessary to maintain your tan. We're happy to advise you on what might work best for you with the products we carry.

Generously apply proper body lotion and/or tan extender post-shower. Twice daily is recommended for optimal results.

Keep in mind that extended swimming will quickly fade your tan, and hot tubs can remove a tan altogether.

Two Days Before

Waxing procedures and spa services such as manicure, pedicure, massage, facial, etc. should be done BEFORE your spray tan. Two days prior to your session is recommended, as any oils and lotions can leave a barrier on your skin, preventing the best results of your tan.

**MEDICATIONS:  Some may effect the result of a tan. Please consult with your medical professional before booking a session if you are taking any prescribed medications.

**LADIES:  Keep in mind that menstrual cycles and hormones can effect the tan as well. Please schedule accordingly.

One Day Before

Be sure to shower, shave and exfoliate the day before your session. Exfoliating mitts are available for purchase in our studio.

A shower, bath or any water activity within 5 hours of your appointment is not advised, as skin will stay hydrated and prevent the best tan results.

Please do not come directly from the gym, as sweat also creates a barrier.

The Day Of

Do not shower within 5 hours of your spray tan appointment. Avoid use of deodorant, makeup, self tanners, perfume, or moisturizers (including moisture strip on razor) the day of your session.

Bring loose fitting clothes, the looser the better, and loose slip-on shoes.

Wear what you're comfortable in for your spray, such as a bathing suit or underwear, and the darker the color the better.

***We offer disposable undergarments for an additional fee.

Products To Use

We offer Perfect Glow Sunless products for purchase in studio. They are formulated to work with a sunless tan but can be used daily to maintain soft, healthy skin.

Consider a complete regimen of Body Wash, Body Lotion, Tan Extender, Self Tanning Mousse, and exfoliating mitts (for next session prep).

You will see a huge difference in how your tan lasts and fades when you use the proper products that are made specifically for sunless tanning. These products are made with the purest ingredients such as 100% Coconut Oil, Moroccan Argan Oil, Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Apple Fruit Extracts.

Products To Avoid

The following products are known to fade and ruin a sunless tan:
Loofahs, washcloths, baby oil, mineral oil, massage oils, bug sprays, anti aging products that exfoliate, Dove and Olay products (creates skin barriers and your tan will not take), alcohol based toners, astringents (cleansing agents). Any products containing AHA’s or BHA’s or RETIN, accutane and salicylic acids can cause issues.

Avoid long swims in pools and oceans as the chlorine and salt water can cause fading (bromine can cause fading).

FDA Recommendations

The FDA has advised that all users of DHA spray tanning services avoid inhaling or ingesting DHA. When using all-over sunless tanning sprays containing DHA it may be difficult to avoid exposure to sensitive areas including eyes, lips, mucous membranes or internally. The FDA recommends you take the following protective measures during your sunless tanning session:

  • Use of undergarments

  • Use of protective eye wear

  • Use of nose filters

  • Use of lip balm

FAQ's

Why should I get other beauty services done before a spray tan?

Waxing will remove the spray tan completely in the area being waxed.

Soaking/scrubbing feet in a pedicure foot bath can fade the tan almost immediately.

Application of unknown skin products during a mani/pedi can strip and streak the tan.

A hair appointment that requires a wash/rinse will remove a freshly applied spray tan around the neck/face area.

How could having my period effect the outcome of my tan?

Hormonal fluctuations shortly before, during, and shortly after a menstrual cycle can result in a lighter outcome and impact the longevity of

a spray tan.

If you know you will be getting or have your period around the time of your session, just mention it *BEFORE* the spray and we can make minor adjustments to the solution.

Why shouldn't I shower/shave right before  my spray tan session?

Showering hydrades the skin which can prevent the spray tan solution from absorbing into the skin properly.

The solutions absorb better into acceptable levels of dry skin.

Shaving just before a spray tan could cause a streaky outcome, especially if the razor has a moisture strip.

If you have showered and/or shaved within 5 hours of your session, please notify your spray technician so adjustments can be made.

How could medications and certain skin care effect a spray tan?

Everything we ingest and apply to our skin can alter the balance of our skin's pH

level, in turn effecting the outcome of a spray tan.

Example 1: Taking an antibiotic could cause slight changes to skin pigmentation and/or impact the appearance and longevity

of a spray tan.

Example 2: Acne treatments and anti-aging skin care are often full of harsh ingredients to lighten/brighten the skin. These ingredients will also lighten/brighten a spray tan and will very quickly remove the tan altogether.

When should I book my appointment for an event or vacation?

The best color days of a spray tan are the second, third, and fouth days. Here's what we recommend:

For a 1 day event such as a wedding, shower, photo shoot, etc - book your appointment 2-3 days beforehand.

For a vacation - book your appointment 1-2 days before departure.

For no reason at all -

ANY DAY is a good day for a spray tan! :)

These are only examples and may not effect everyone in the same way. If you have any medical concerns around getting a spray tan, you must consult your doctor prior to any spray tan session.
